Director, Methanogen UK Ltd
James started his own business manufacturing GRP products before building his first digester in 1974.
By 1975, he had co-founded Farmgas with Michael Chesshire in order to manufacture and sell anaerobic digesters in the UK.
James formed Waste Refineries Ltd (WRI) in 1990. Waste Refineries reactivated the farm digester sector and created a market for their hugely popular and award-winning AD compost.
Now working under Methanogen, he has more than 30 on-farm digesters designed, built and commissioned with a total of more than 450 years operating time. In addition, he has worked on numerous other types of digesters, including those for sewage, food waste and abattoir waste.
His latest development includes a range of energy efficient micro-digesters capable of running on solar energy and designed to be fed on local organics, including those from the garden, kitchen and allotment.
